Idea about T-shirt design

For this Project, I have an idea, which is hold an event about T-shirt design.

I want to give people a chance to show how creative they can.
This event will be hold in the university, high- school and also public place such as central market.

To make this event, we need find a sponsor to support us about the price.
So we plan to make a competition, let people join us, and design their own T-shirt, those T-shirt will be designed base on any social issue. At the end, we will choose the best design, and sell these for donation.

To promote this event, we will also hold a photo gallery show, we will post images about social issue, and photos about last competition and so on. and we also can make hand paint event to attract more people.



However, Mr. Michael said this kind of event can be hold by anyone who good at organisation. To do this event, it will hard for us to show our skill, which is more about Multimedia design. So we need come up with more idea.

Idea about V-blog...

Personally, I think the hardest part for a new project is to decide a topic. For this project, we already tried T-Design for creative, romathon for traffic jam, but the result is not so good.

My team member Birgitta share me this idea, it is a Video blog, we will use this kind of blog to encourage people take care about the environment. they plan to shot a video as an example, and at the end of video, people who make this video will ask a question, such as what you can do for protect the environment.

For example, they may shot a video about plant trees, after that, they will say this is what i did today, so how about you, please do something like this to take care of your mother earth, and spread video blog into Youtube channel.

Talk about my opinion about this idea, I think this is a good idea, but not really interesting, or maybe can say like not really attract people. Nowadays, not a lot people really care about the environment, that is the reason why we need let people realised this issue. In this way, I can say, some people need us to push them start do care about earth, so we cannot expect a lot people will follow our video blog.

About A3 board design:

This is the first vision I did for my part. Sadly, I did wrong. According to Mr. Michael's recommend, when I edit this board, I didn't think about the real size. My images are too big for A3 size board.

This is the second vision I did for my part. There are 5 things including in this A3 size presentation board.
1. What kind of materials we can reuse to make product?

2. Step-by-step guide.

3. Interview with product designer- Dr. Hariri.

4. Market research.

5. Online questionnaire.

Design 4 page of A3 board is an important part for this project, so we decide that Rae do timeline, me do research and materials, Birgitta do two pages about website. I finished my part first, so Birgitta and Rae choose green color from my board. We didn't plan well, and we thought if we use same background color, the design should be looks similar, but the truth is when put all A3 boards together, my work really different from others. So I have to change it.

I learned we need really plan everything well before we start do the thing, it will save the time, and we won't need redo again.

Interview with a product designer- Mr. Hariri

First time know about Dr. Hariri is at the end of last semester. Mr. Muzamir invite me and my sister for dinner in uni during fasting time. There were many students that day, since he teaches my sister product design at that moment. so we talked for a while during dinner. He is a kind person, like to share his ideas to others.

During interview, we plan to ask him about his opinion as a product design, how he think about our project? And also his experience about recycle project.

Dr. Hariri did a tv program show about recycling project. The TV show called as BP Challenge-British Petroleum Challenge in TV3 Malaysia. In this TV show, Mr. Hariri did 11 programs for 4 years.

According to his experience, he share us information such as how to collect the wasted materials, how to manage a competition… during the interview, Mr. Hariri shared us the information very detail, such as how long we should set up one task.  He gave an example, we should give people one hour to let them finish one task, he explain that in this limited time, people will be kind like focus to think faster, and become more creative, and with one hour, we can start competition at morning, and finish at afternoon. This kind of competition more about let people think, and creative, the finishing will not really so important, the important thing is get idea, and make it, and let people enjoy the moment when create something. 

After that, Mr. Hariri also invite me and Birgitta goto his class, and I did interview with one boy and one girl in this class. Both of them interested about out project, but the boy mentioned that different people will good at different part of design, so for him, he interested, but may not do it. 
 

About market research...

About market research:

Today I interview 20 people about market research. Basically, I introduce myself and our project first to people who agree to do interview. I use iPad to show there 12 good examples about people reuse material and create products. These examples I got from Internet. These examples are including light, furnitures, clothes, bottoms and clothes also. After I showed them examples, I ask them three questions:

1. Do you interesting about this project?

2. Do you willing to buy these products if we sell it online? ( I also explain these money will half go to donation)

3. The reason why u want to buy or don't want to buy.

I walk around in the university, and try to get answer from students who have different background. And according to my research, most people are interested about our project, few people said they won't do it by themselves, but for sure they will visit our website is we really make it. Beside, most people explain they that they will buy our products if the price not expensive, and they need use these products. However, there are three girls said we should make the price a little bit higher than the market, because it is for the donation, people should understand it.

For this interview, I am quite enjoy it. At the beginning, I am a little bit nerves, I afraid people will say I don't have time. But the truth is there were only two people said no to me. I addition, when I mentioned about multimedia design, there are around 6 people asked me what is multimedia design, and what I do for this program. And there was one girl even asked me did I do the video for the tv which showed in the university. I feel happy to introduce myself and my course to people, this helps me become more brave. I really think it is a good experience.

Marathon against Traffic jam

Fifi gives an idea about reduce traffic jam. And she suggestion to use marathon to spread the idea.

Combine with our first idea,  We plan to encourage people to join our even. At the beginning of the marathon, all the runners will get a white t-shirt. And before start the malathion, people will get an white T-shirt, there will be 20 mins give to them to pain and write on this T-shirt, people can write down what they want to say about the traffic jam. They can give suggestion, also can speak up their disappoint or the traffic jam.

During the marathon, people will run through the location will hard for car to pass, and also some busy traffic location. To let more people know about traffic jam.

We plan this event to let more people know about Traffic jam issue. Of courses, most people facing this issue everyday, but how to solve it? Can we solve it only by complain? How about use more healthy way to transfer? There are a lot things people can so to make the world become better and better. And personally I believe that if not a lot of people speak out this issue, there may hard to get government's attention. We need change it.



Ps. However, we changed this idea later, because we feel this social is not strong enough to plan an event, and also organise this kind of event, not really need multimedia designer, we plan to find another issue, which allow us use what we learned before, to use our skill attract people's attention.

Main reasons that cause traffic jam...

           Our group member: Fifi share us her idea, the idea is to hold a marathon in Malaysia.

Generally, most country have same problem about traffic  jam, however, we feel that traffic jam in Malaysia is very serious, and bring many bad effect for people who live here. So we decide hold an marathon even, and invite people join us, and speak out what they are thinking about issue of traffic jam.

            First of all, we have consultation with Mr. Michael Choong, we spent time to find out why traffic jam is very bad in Malaysia, at the end, with the help of Mr. Michael, we found these main reasons that cause traffic jam in maylaysia:

1 weather, especially during the rainy season, car always moves slow for safety, as the result, it will course traffic jam.  Malaysia is a country that has a lot of rain. To be safe, people will drive slow when is raining.

2 Car accident, Car accident is the another reason that course traffic jam. When there is a car accident on the read, most of time, the broken car will stay in the centre is before I am out, and most of driver pass by the place where have accident, they usually slow down their car, and look at the accident to know more information.

3. Road is not convenient enough, so for some aria, there are so many cars, but the road not big enough for use.

4. Public transport is not good enough, some location, people spend long time to wait for bus. And one public transport station is far from another, in the hot weather, people will not want to use public transport. Using personal car, siting under cool air-conditional will be much better than using bus or train.

            All of these are main problems that cause traffic jam in Malaysia.

About this project...

            This project is more about using our skill and join a completion which called as RSA Genovasi Malaysia Awards. Personally, I feel it is a good experience, during whole semester, we had changed three different ideas before we finally decide our topic, and also we have visited an workshop: genovasi, which is really interesting and meanful for me. Beside this, I also learned from my mistake, which is have to plan well before really do it. When we do the A3 board, all of us thought it should be simple, we just decide use same font, and same background color. But at the end, it is not as easy as what I thought.

             Beside this, I think the good part of this subject is push us go to society, communicate with more people outside. In this way, we are not only siting inside the classroom and learn software, but we are join competition and promote ourselves at same time.
Such as interview, make call with organization, email people and so on. I learned a lot from this.

For this period, Mr. Michael required us to find a place where collect wasted materials, and we need interview these people, get information about what they are doing? and how they are doing and so on. we need do research about it, because according to our website plan, we will hold event during special period, as the organisation group, we need prepare these materials and let people use and join our competition.
